DESCRIPTION:

This intensive, advanced workshop is for experienced canine rehabilitation professionals wanting to expand their manual therapy expertise through specialised joint mobilisation techniques and the application of Mulligan Concepts adapted for canine patients. Learn advanced joint biomechanics, arthrokinematics and the assessment and treatment of complex joint restrictions, pain and movement dysfunctions throughout the forelimbs and hindlimbs. Extensive practical training will focus on Mobilisation with Movement (MWM), Pain Release Phenomenon (PRP), accessory joint glides, traction, compression and combined mobilisation techniques. The workshop will address the joints in the peripheral limbs, as well as the scapula, first rib, pelvis and sacroiliac joint.

Learning Objectives:

  • Analyse advanced joint biomechanics and arthrokinematics of the canine forelimbs and hindlimbs, including accessory joint movements, positional restrictions and altered joint mechanics associated with musculoskeletal dysfunction.
  • Demonstrate advanced joint mobilisation and Mulligan Concept techniques, including Mobilisation with Movement (MWM), Pain Release Phenomenon (PRP), directional accessory glides, traction, compression and combined movement techniques.
  • Perform specialised manual mobilisation techniques across the canine extremities, including the shoulder, elbow, carpus, digits, hip, stifle and tarsus, together with associated scapular, first rib and sacroiliac joint dysfunctions.
  • Apply advanced clinical reasoning to mobilisation selection and progression, incorporating precise joint positioning, treatment-plane accuracy, indications, contraindications, patient tolerance and immediate reassessment of pain, joint mobility and functional responses.
  • Integrate advanced joint mobilisation techniques into comprehensive rehabilitation programmes, combining manual therapy with targeted soft tissue techniques, neuromuscular rehabilitation and therapeutic exercises to improve joint mobility, stability, strength and functional movement.
