TITLE: Mulligan Advanced Mobilization in Canine Spinal Rehabilitation: Restoring Spinal Motion
DATE/TIME: Wed. April 14th, 8:30am - 12:45pm (1/2 day lab)
LAB RATING: Advanced
MAX PARTICIPANTS: 20 seats; 19 seats remaining
CONTACT HOURS: 4.0 CE credits; RACE approval pending
DESCRIPTION:
This intensive, advanced hands-on workshop is designed for experienced canine rehabilitation professionals seeking to refine their spinal mobilisation skills through the application of Mulligan Concept techniques adapted for canine patients. The course includes advanced spinal biomechanics, segmental joint dysfunction and the application of specialised manual therapy techniques throughout the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. Extensive practical training will focus on Sustained Natural Apophyseal Glides (SNAGs), Natural Apophyseal Glides (NAGs), Mobilisation with Movement (MWM), advanced spinal traction, segmental mobilisations and techniques addressing associated rib, neural and lumbosacral dysfunctions. Emphasis will be placed on precise joint positioning, treatment-plane accuracy, dynamic mobilisation, clinical reasoning and immediate reassessment of treatment responses. Participants will develop advanced manual skills to address spinal pain, restricted mobility, postural abnormalities and compensatory dysfunctions, while integrating these techniques into comprehensive rehabilitation programmes to optimise spinal mobility, neuromuscular control and functional movement.
Learning Objectives:
- Analyse advanced canine spinal biomechanics and segmental dysfunction, including facet joint orientation, arthrokinematics, movement restrictions and compensatory abnormalities throughout the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.
- Demonstrate advanced Mulligan Concept mobilisation techniques, including SNAGs, NAGs and Mobilisation with Movement (MWM), with precise application of treatment planes, directional glides, joint stabilisation and dynamic movement.
- Perform specialised spinal mobilisation techniques, including segmental traction, rotational and side-bending mobilisations, flexion and extension techniques, and selected rib, lumbosacral and neural mobilisation techniques.
- Apply advanced clinical reasoning to manual therapy selection and progression, incorporating patient assessment, indications, contraindications, treatment tolerance and immediate reassessment of pain, mobility and functional responses.
- Integrate advanced spinal mobilisation techniques into comprehensive rehabilitation programmes, combining manual therapy with targeted therapeutic exercises to improve spinal mobility, neuromuscular control, posture and functional movement.
