DESCRIPTION: This course is brought to you by Canine Rehab Institute
This half-day workshop reviews the neurological examination of rehabilitation patients, including neurolocalization, special tests, and assessment of functional ability using neurodevelopmental sequencing as a guideline. Developing a treatment plan based on clinical findings and using neuroinhibitory and neurofacilitatory treatment techniques will be demonstrated and practiced to work patients back to functional recovery.
Course Outline
Lecture
- Review the neurological examination and clinical relevance of special tests
- Understand upper and lower motor neuron conditions and clinical appearance based on neurolocalization.
- Learn motor control and neurodevelopmental sequencing as an assessment tool
- Learn neurofaciliatory and neuroinhibitory treatment techniques
- Review the implications of spinal walking and how to increase the odds of deep pain-negative patients
Lab
- Practice Neurological Examination techniques (posture and gait evaluation) with videos
- Practice Neurological Examination techniques (special tests)
- Evaluate patient neurodevelopmental sequence and motor control assessment
