DESCRIPTION:

Building on a foundation of basic kinesiology taping, this moderately advanced wet lab is designed for practitioners who already have experience handling and applying kinesiology tape and are ready to deepen their therapeutic strategies.

We’ll focus on joint support and proprioceptive taping techniques in the equine lower limb — ideal for horses with mild instability, fatigue, or proprioceptive deficits. Participants will gain hands-on experience taping key joints such as the fetlock, hock, and carpus, with an emphasis on observing movement changes and functional outcomes.

Next, we’ll explore neurological and pain relief applications for common issues in the thoracolumbar and sacroiliac regions. These techniques focus on decompression, sensory stimulation, and myofascial support to address back discomfort, altered posture, or compensatory tension patterns. We’ll also cover how to efficiently integrate kinesiology taping with other holistic modalities, such as:

  • Massage
  • Craniosacral therapy
  • Laser therapy
  • PEMF and more

You’ll learn practical sequencing, timing, and layering strategies to get the most out of each session while reducing therapeutic load on the horse.

  • Angelique Barbara MS, DC

Dr. Angelique Barbara is the founder of Holistic Animal Studies and a pioneer in integrative animal bodywork education. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science with a minor in Equine Science, a Master of Science in Veterinary Pathobiology, and a Doctorate in Chiropractic. With a strong foundation in anatomy, biomechanics, pathology, and nervous system function, Dr. Barbara brings both scientific depth and hands-on clinical experience to her teaching.

Dr. Barbara was one of the first practitioners to develop and implement kinesiology taping protocols specifically for animals, bridging traditional taping principles with equine biomechanics and fascial/meridian dynamics. Her work has helped shape how practitioners apply taping safely and effectively in horses for performance support, rehabilitation, and pain reduction.

Through Holistic Animal Studies, she has trained practitioners worldwide in evidence-informed, integrative techniques that elevate the standard of animal care. In this equine kinesiology taping wet lab, participants will gain practical, anatomically grounded skills while learning the reasoning behind each application — empowering them to tape with confidence, precision, and purpose.
